Shrimp Flambé

Ingredients

(For 4 people)

​

2 LB raw shrimp (fresh or frozen)

1/4 cup olive oil

1 Tbsp butter

7 garlic cloves

1 parsley bouquet + more for garnish

3.5 or 4 Tbsp Pastis or Whiskey

Salt & pepper to taste

Lemon juice (optional)

Lemon wedges for decoration

 

 

Instructions

 

1 - If frozen, thaw shrimp in lukewarm water and drain. Pat dry with paper towels.

​

2 - Peel garlic and rinse parsley. Chop together and set aside.

​

3 - Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium-high heat.


4 - When hot, add shrimp and cook stirring constantly until shrimp are pink and fully cooked.

​

5 - Turn heat off. Using CAUTION, pour alcohol and light right away. 

​

6 - Shake skillet until flames disappear.

​

7 - Add garlic and parsley and stir.

​

8 - Return to heat and cook on low heat for a minute stirring constantly.

​

9 - Turn heat off. Add salt & pepper to taste.

​

10 - Drizzle with lemon juice (optional) and decorate with lemon wedges and more parsley.

​

11 - Serve immediately with a side of sautéed asparagus.
